Mami's Internship...Day 2

I met more new staff today. I like people here since they all are nice, friendly and welcoming. In the morning, Ny and I carried X’mas stuff to our storage and then I went through books and listed companies/communities which we would like to show our facilities to for our new project. We arehoping to host more gay weddings, since gay marriage is finally legal in Washington. It is very interesting to me because it is the American culture! Probably, I would never do this kind of marketing when I work in Japan. Then, back to work with Ny. I read names and contact info to Ny and she typed them into Open Tables. It was hard for me to read English names because there were many creating names which I am not familiar with. Ny was kind and helpful, so I had a good time and reading practice for me. After that Gracie gave me yummy lobster bisque for today’s lunch! It was a good day because I could see the beginning of “international marketing”. I’m looking for working on the project. Thank you!

Welcome our new intern, Mami

It was my first day of the internship at Ruth’s Chris Steak House today! In the morning, Scott, GM, took me a tour all around the restaurant. Clean, roomy, nice people…It is a wonderful restaurant! Then I put away the Christmas stuff since it is over now. It was a kind of sad work, but we had to do it. After saying goodbye to holidays, I made treat packages to bring to clients to include the restaurant’s menu. Gracie, the Sales Manager and my internship supervisor, and I had lunch on the way to a “business trip” to Microsoft. I ate Steak Sandwich and it was so juicy and delicious. The company is huge, not “micro”. They have a lot of buildings on their campus. Let me call it “Microsoft Town”! This is my first day and I’m so excited to being an intern here!
 I’m getting busy! Thank you.

My Last Day

Today was my last day at interning at Ruth's Chris.  During this internship, I have learned so much about the food and beverage industry, how the restaurant business works in the back and front of the house, plus how to coordinate events. I loved getting to work in the kitchen but then also being able to shadow a server. It was pretty amazing to see the whole process from start to finish and that was definitely a highlight in my time here. This year I will be studying Hospitality and Business Management, I can put all my new experiences and education from here into my studies.  Now that I finally have some actual experience in the industry I could now be more excited for starting school! This internship has definitely set me up for success in my future!
See you later! -Jenny

Busy in the Pastry Department

Today I worked with Michael the Pastry Chef.  He showed me the in and outs of getting all the desserts prepped, mixed, cooked, and presented.  We made two types of cheesecakes, creme brulee explosion cake and our famous bread pudding.  For the cheesecakes I learned how to make and shape all the crusts for the cheesecake to go inside.  After all of that I got to practice writing in chocolate for the Happy Birthday & Happy Anniversary plates.  Its a lot harder then you'd think it would be!!  This was definietly a great days and I learned a lot about all the hard work are put into these delicious pastries!!
Until next time -Jenny
